Justin Rose Breaks Tiger Woods Record at Farmers Insurance Open

From day one, Justin Rose led the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, breaking a Tiger Woods record at 45 years old.

At 45, Justin Rose left his competition no chance at the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, winning with a seven-stroke lead and a tournament record of 23 under par at Torrey Pines. He held the lead firmly from the start and set new scoring records after each round.

PGA Tour: Justin Rose Wins with Tournament Record

In the final, a 70-round secured a comfortable victory. With three birdies on the front nine, the Englishman extended his lead; on the back nine, there was only one bogey at the 12th, but Rose had enough buffer not to worry. Instead, he focused on breaking the tournament record of 22 under par set by Tiger Woods in 1999. \”That was the only thing I focused on during the last three holes,\” Rose said afterward.

\”The fact that I could extend my lead every day is something I’m naturally proud of as a player, because it feels like handling the pressure from the start to the end, continuously improving and moving forward,\” Rose said at his winner’s press conference. \”Maybe it’s something I hadn’t achieved before, so I’m very satisfied.\”

Though his golf game was nearly flawless, he attributes the success mainly to his mental strength. \”I was very disciplined this week. Of course, I played well, but I managed my game wisely, thought things through, was patient at the right moments, and compensated for small mistakes by sinking the right putts at the right times. There was a lot of true mental maturity from a strategic golf perspective.\”

Stephan Jäger Finishes in Top 5

With Rose unreachable at the top, the rest competed for second place. Pierceson Coody climbed 12 places with a 65, the best round of the day, to share this spot with Si Woo Kim and Roy Hisatsune. Just behind them, Stephan Jäger placed T5 with 15 under par total. With a 68 on the final day, he secured a solid result. Whereas previously Jäger alternated between aggressive birdie play and bogeys, his final round had a bit of both, with three bogeys offset by seven birdies, maintaining his top-10 position. Following a missed cut at the American Express, this marks a positive sign and his best result since the Sony Open in January 2025.

Brooks Koepka finished T56 with a 70-round, completing his first week back on the PGA Tour. Koepka remarked that the biggest change is not knowing half of the players. \”In the past four years, there have been many changes. I know half the guys, and the other half I don’t. It’s going to be an exciting year getting to know everyone, and I look forward to it,\” Koepka said after the tournament.
