Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Back on the PGA Tour Immediately

First start at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull launching her YouTube channel soon. The Back Nine.

It was expected: Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for family. This was reportedly a friendly agreement, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka is a competitive athlete motivated by high-level competition, something that was somewhat limited during his time with LIV. Having joined LIV in 2022 mainly because he feared a career-ending injury and sought a solid retirement fund, it’s no surprise he skipped the last contracted season, though questions remain about possible buyouts or refunds. He remains owner of the LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation abounds about where Koepka will next tee off. The DP World Tour would allow immediate eligibility, possibly with a penalty, or the PGA Tour where he faces a one-year suspension after his last LIV start, a suspension that has been significantly softened since the lifetime bans imposed by former commissioner Jay Monahan. The pragmatic approach favors allowing prominent LIV returnees to help boost the stronger PGA Tour. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which had not been renewed after 2022, aiming to rejoin the player pool.
