PGA Tour: Justin Rose Wins with Tournament Record
In the final round, a simple 70 was enough to secure a comfortable win. With three birdies on the front nine, the Englishman extended his lead. Although he had one bogey on the 12th hole on the back nine, Rose’s cushion was sufficient to keep worries at bay. Instead, he focused on breaking the tournament record of 22 under par, previously set by Tiger Woods in 1999. \”That was the only thing I concentrated on in the last three holes,\” Rose said afterward.
\”The fact that I was able to extend my lead each day is something I’m naturally proud of as a player, because it feels like managing pressure from start to finish and continuously improving and moving forward,\” Rose shared in his winner’s press conference. \”Maybe this is something I had never done before, so I am very satisfied with that.\”
Though his golf game was nearly flawless, he credited much of his success to mental strength. \”I was just very disciplined this week. Of course, I played well, but I felt I managed my game well, was thoughtful, patient at the right moments, and was able to compensate for small mistakes by sinking the right putt at the right time. There was a lot of real mental maturity from a strategic golf perspective.\”
Stephan Jäger Among Top 5
With Rose clearly unreachable at the top, the rest competed for second place. Pierceson Coody moved up 12 spots with a 65, the best round of the day, sharing second place with Si Woo Kim and Roy Hisatsune. Just behind, Stephan Jäger finished T5 at 15 under par total, closing with a 68. Previously swinging between birdie power and bogey struggles, Jäger’s final day showed a mix of both—three bogeys but seven birdies secured his position in the top 10. After missing the cut at the American Express, this is a positive sign for the new year and his best result since the Sony Open in January 2025.
Brooks Koepka completed the tournament with a 70 to finish T56, marking his first week back on the PGA Tour. Koepka noted the biggest change: \”I don’t know half the players.\” \”There have been many changes over the last four years. I know half the guys, the other half I don’t. It’s going to be an exciting year getting to know everyone, and I’m looking forward to it.\”
