Nerve-wracking finish in Bahrain: Freddy Schott wins a playoff against Reed and Hill, securing his first DP World Tour victory and rising to 9th in the Race to Dubai.
At the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour stayed thrilling until the very last moment. In a strong head-to-head competition between Scot Calum Hill, American Patrick Reed, and German player Freddy Schott, the German ultimately prevailed in a nerve-wracking playoff on the final day. This victory at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship marks Schott’s first triumph on the DP World Tour. The Düsseldorf native climbed to 9th place in the Race to Dubai ranking, improving 94 spots.
Three-way tie after final day
All three players finished the final Sunday tied at 17 under par atop the leaderboard. Freddy Schott improved by one stroke from the previous day with a 69, delivering four birdies on the front nine but taking a bogey on hole 8. His back nine was solid, despite a double bogey on hole 11, ending the day three under par with three additional birdies and another bogey.
American Patrick Reed closed with a 67, five under par, recording seven birdies and two bogeys. His score neared his best round of 66 from the previous Saturday.
Scottish Calum Hill shot an average 71, one under par, maintaining a high position on the leaderboard from his strong 61 on Friday. However, his competitors caught up thanks to his weaker final round, with five birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey not enough to secure victory at the Royal Golf Club.

On the second hole, Hill faltered with seven strokes on a par-4, eliminating him from contention. Schott held steady with even par and claimed the tournament win.
Spanish golfer Sergio García, who led the leaderboard several times during the event, finished the final day with a 68 and shared fourth place with New Zealander Daniel Hillier, both ending at 16 under par.
