Membership Renewed Without Suspension: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh is back in action, Charley Hull to launch on YouTube soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time. This was agreed upon amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, known as a competitor who thrives on top-level challenges, has been somewhat less motivated in LIV Golf. Originally joining in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns and to secure a comfortable retirement fund, it comes as no surprise he is skipping his final contracted season, though questions remain about possible financial arrangements and his ownership of LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation is rife about where Koepka will next compete. The DP World Tour would grant immediate eligibility, possibly with a penalty payment, or the PGA Tour where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV event after former commissioner Jay Monahan eased lifetime bans. Why hold grudges when every returning LIV player benefits the PGA Tour now in a stronger position? ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported that Koepka submitted a formal application last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership after it was not renewed post-2022.

A possible suspension would expire in August, coinciding with the end of the 2026 season at the Tour Championship from August 27 to 30. This would clear the way for Koepka’s eligibility in 2027 under the PGA Tour’s new schedule, featuring about two dozen $20 million tournaments with limited, top-ranked fields. The timing suits Koepka perfectly. PGA Tour Enterprises investors backing the new league would surely welcome
