Membership Reapplied: Koepka Prepares PGA Tour Return for 2027

Bryson DeChambeau confirms LIV Golf League start in 2026, Vijay Singh plans a comeback at 62, and Charley Hull is soon launching her own YouTube channel. The Back Nine.

Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the LIV Golf League for the 2026 season, which starts on February 7 in Riyadh. The five-time major champion will remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more family time, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka, known for thriving in top-level competition, had only limited motivation in LIV Golf and originally joined in 2022 due to injury concerns and securing a solid retirement income. Questions remain whether he had to buy out part of his guaranteed salary and whether he still owns his LIV team, Smash GC, which has appointed Talor Gooch as new captain.

Speculation continues on where Koepka will next compete: the DP World Tour, where he could play immediately possibly with a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension from his last LIV event, although previous lifetime bans have been softened. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership and rejoin the player pool.

The suspension could end in August, overlapping with the conclusion of the 2026 season at the Tour Championship. This timing would allow Koepka to compete in 2027 when the PGA Tour introduces a compressed schedule of nearly two dozen $20 million events with limited, elite fields — a perfect comeback opportunity for him. PGA Tour Enterprises investors would likely welcome another marquee name.

Jon Rahm recently expressed confidence in Koepka’s return: \”He might need some time, but I think he’ll come back to the PGA Tour. He’ll probably at least play the minimum and the tournaments he likes, the big ones. If he qualifies or is eligible for big events, he would play those too.\” The competition committee led by Tiger Woods, along with the board and player directors, may show leniency for the five-time major winner, following Rory McIlroy’s recommendation to allow Koepka to return immediately. A majority of fans also appear supportive, according to a non-representative poll by \”Bunkered\” magazine.

DeChambeau Confirms LIV Start For 2026

Bryson DeChambeau officially confirmed he will compete in the LIV Golf League in 2026. His Crushers team, including Charles Howell III, Paul Casey, and Anirban Lahiri, will remain unchanged going into their fifth season. Interestingly, DeChambeau has not announced a general contract extension, fueling speculation about behind-the-scenes negotiations to retain the league’s most marketable player after Koepka’s departure.

Vijay Singh Returns to PGA Tour at 62

In a surprising move, Vijay Singh is returning to the PGA Tour at age 62. The three-time major winner from Fiji is using an exemption based on his career money list position and will appear this week at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Singh previously played on the PGA Tour Champions, winning
