PGA Tour: Justin Rose Wins with Tournament Record
In the final round, Rose only needed a 70 to secure a comfortable victory. With three birdies on the front nine, the Englishman extended his lead. On the back nine, he had just one bogey at the 12th hole but held enough cushion to stay worry-free. Instead, he focused on breaking the tournament record of 22 under par, previously set by Tiger Woods in 1999. \”That was the only thing I concentrated on during the last three holes,\” Rose said afterward.
\”Being able to extend my lead every day is something I’m proud of as a player because it shows I can handle pressure from start to finish while constantly improving,\” Rose said at his winner’s press conference. \”Maybe this is something I haven’t achieved before, so I’m very satisfied.\”
Although his golf game was nearly flawless, Rose credited his mental strength for the success. \”I was very disciplined this week. Of course, I played well, but I managed my game wisely, was patient at the right moments, and compensated for small mistakes by making the right putts at the right time. There was a lot of true mental maturity from a strategic golf perspective.\”
Stephan Jäger Finishes in Top 5
With Rose unreachable at the top, the rest battled for second place. Pierceson Coody shot a 65, the best round of the day, climbing 12 spots to share second place with Si Woo Kim and Roy Hisatsune. Just behind them, Stephan Jäger finished tied fifth with a total 15 under par. With a final round 68, he secured a strong result. While Jäger had oscillated between birdie streaks and bogeys in previous rounds, the final day brought both elements. He made three bogeys from errant shots but compensated with seven birdies to maintain a Top 10 position. After missing the cut at the American Express, this marks a positive start to his year and his best result since the Sony Open in January 2025.
Brooks Koepka closed out the tournament with a 70 to finish tied 56th, completing his first week back on the PGA Tour. Koepka noted that half the players are new to him. \”There have been many changes over the last four years. I know half the guys; the other half I don’t. It will be an exciting year getting to know everyone, and I’m looking forward to it,\” he said.
