Schott and Jäger Rise in the Official World Golf Rankings After Strong Performances

After strong performances in Bahrain and California, Schott and Jäger climb the Official World Golf Rankings as the top spots also shift.

Following the tournament weekend featuring the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship of the DP World Tour in Bahrain and the Farmers Insurance Open of the PGA Tour in Southern California, the Official World Golf Rankings saw significant changes. After a nerve-wracking finale at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, Freddy Schott from Düsseldorf (Düsseldorfer Golf Club) emerged as the tournament winner.

With his victory, Schott jumped 94 places from 103rd to 9th on the Race to Dubai leaderboard. He also improved his Official World Golf Ranking by over 200 spots: at the beginning of last week, he was ranked 436th and had only marginal progress compared to 2025. After his glorious win in Bahrain, Schott is now ranked 195th, placing him inside the top 200. Nearby in the rankings is Nicolai von Dellingshausen, who also hails from Düsseldorf but is rooted at Golf Club Hubbelrath. Von Dellingshausen currently holds 192nd place with no change from the previous week.

Jäger Joins the Climb in the OWGR — Top of the Rankings Also Shift

At the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open, Stephan Jäger started his comeback on Saturday and secured a tie for 5th place with 15 strokes under par on the final Sunday. The 36-year-old from Munich rose into the top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings. Climbing 22 places, Jäger is now ranked 99th and is closely following the best German player, Matti Schmid, who currently ranks 98th and finished T56 at the Farmers Insurance Open. They are separated by only 0.0216 points.

There was also movement among the top ranks of the Official World Golf Rankings. Englishman Justin Rose’s victory at the Farmers Insurance Open caused Tommy Fleetwood to drop from 3rd to 4th place. Rose gained seven positions, moving from 10th to 3rd in the rankings. English player Russell Henley and Scottish player Robert MacIntyre each moved down one place. Justin Rose now sits behind second-ranked Rory McIlroy and the untouchable number 1 Scottie Scheffler, who leads the Northern Irishman by approximately 8.5 points.
