Schott and Jäger Climb the OWGR After Strong Performances in Bahrain and California

After strong performances in Bahrain and California, Schott and Jäger rise on the Official World Golf Ranking as the top spots shift.

Following a weekend featuring the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour and the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour in Southern California, the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) saw notable changes. After an intense finale at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, Freddy Schott from Düsseldorf (Düsseldorfer Golf-Club) emerged as the tournament winner.

With his victory, Schott jumped 94 places from 103rd to 9th on the Race to Dubai list. On the OWGR, Schott surged more than 200 places: early last week he was ranked 436th, showing only minimal improvement since 2025. After his triumphant win in Bahrain, Schott now ranks 195th, placing him inside the top 200. Close on the ranking is fellow Düsseldorf native Nicolai von Dellingshausen, affiliated with Golf Club Hubbelrath, currently ranked 192nd without changes from the previous week.

Jäger Also Climbs the OWGR – Movement at the Top

At the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, Stephan Jäger started a comeback on Saturday and secured a tie for 5th place on Sunday with 15 strokes under par. The 36-year-old from Munich ascended into the OWGR top 100. Having gained 22 spots, Jäger is now ranked 99th, closely trailing Germany’s top player Matti Schmid, who is 98th after finishing T56 at the Farmers Insurance Open. The point difference between them is just 0.0216.

The upper ranks of the OWGR also saw shifts. Englishman Justin Rose’s victory at the Farmers Insurance Open moved him up seven places from 10th to 3rd, pushing Tommy Fleetwood down from 3rd to 4th. Similarly, Englishman Russell Henley and Scotsman Robert MacIntyre each dropped one place. Justin Rose now sits behind second-placed Rory McIlroy and the untouchable number one Scottie Scheffler, who holds an 8.5-point lead over the Northern Irishman.
