Schott and Jäger Climb the Official World Golf Rankings After Strong Weekend

After strong performances in Bahrain and California, Schott and Jäger rise in the Official World Golf Rankings, while top positions shift.

Following the tournament weekend featuring the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour in Bahrain and the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour in Southern California, there have been significant movements in the official world rankings. After a nerve-wracking finale at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, Freddy Schott from Düsseldorf (Düsseldorfer Golf Club) emerged as the tournament winner.

With his victory, Schott jumped an impressive 94 places in the Race to Dubai standings, moving from 103rd to 9th. On the Official World Golf Ranking, Schott surged over 200 places, climbing from 436th at the start of last week to 195th, placing him within the top 200. Close by in the rankings is Nicolai von Dellingshausen, also from Düsseldorf but originally from Golf Club Hubbelrath, who currently holds 192nd place without change from the previous week.

Jäger also climbs the Official World Golf Ranking – Movement at the top

At the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, Stephan Jäger began his comeback on Saturday and finished tied for 5th with 15 under par on Sunday. The 36-year-old from Munich moved into the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking, climbing 22 spots to 99th. He is now very close to Germany’s best player, Matti Schmid, who currently ranks 98th but finished tied for 56th at the Farmers Insurance Open. The difference in points between the two is just 0.0216.

There was also movement among the leading positions in the Official World Golf Ranking. Englishman Justin Rose’s victory at the Farmers Insurance Open caused Tommy Fleetwood to drop from 3rd to 4th place. Rose gained seven spots to move up from 10th to 3rd in the rankings. Englishman Russell Henley and Scotsman Robert MacIntyre each dropped one spot. Justin Rose now stands behind second-placed Rory McIlroy and the untouchable number 1 Scottie Scheffler, who holds a lead of approximately 8.5 points over the Northern Irishman.
