Justin Rose led from day one at the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, breaking a Tiger Woods record at 45 years old.

At 45, Justin Rose left his competition no chance at the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, winning by seven strokes and setting a tournament record at 23 under par in Torrey Pines. He firmly held the lead throughout the tournament, setting new scoring records after every round.

PGA Tour: Justin Rose Wins with Tournament Record

In the final round, Rose needed only a 70 to secure a comfortable victory. With three birdies on the front nine, the Englishman extended his lead. He had just one bogey on the 12th hole on the back nine but had enough buffer to remain worry-free. Instead, he focused on breaking the tournament record of 22 under par, previously held by Tiger Woods since 1999. \”That was the only thing I concentrated on in the last three holes,\” Rose said afterward.

\”The fact that I could increase my lead each day is something I’m obviously proud of as a player, as it feels like you can handle the pressure from start to finish and continuously improve,\” Rose shared at his winner’s press conference. \”Maybe that’s something I haven’t managed before, so I’m very satisfied with that.\”

While his golf game was nearly flawless, Rose credits his mental performance for the success. \”I was very disciplined this week. Of course, I played well, but I managed my game wisely, was patient at the right moments, and made the right putts when needed. There was a lot of true mental maturity from a strategic golf perspective.\”

Stephan Jäger Among Top 5

With Rose unreachable at the top, the rest competed fiercely for second place. Pierceson Coody made 12 spots gain with a 65, the best round of the day, sharing the position with Si Woo Kim and Roy Hisatsune. Just behind them was Stephan Jäger at T5 with 15 under par total. His 68 in the final round secured a strong finish. While Jäger had shown either full birdie power or bogey troubles earlier in the event, the final day saw a mix of both. Three inaccurate shots resulted in bogeys, but seven birdies helped him maintain a top-10 position. After missing the cut at the American Express, this is a positive sign for the new year and his best result since the Sony Open in January 2025.

Brooks Koepka finished the tournament at T56 with a 70, completing his first week back on the PGA Tour. He noted that half the players were unknown to him after the changes of the last four years. \”There have been some changes in the past four years. I know half the guys and not the other half. It’s going to be an exciting year getting to know everyone,\” Koepka said after the event.
