Stephan Jäger starts a strong comeback with a flawless 65 round, climbing 39 spots to T6 before the final round.
The Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, remains thrilling. At the top, the 45-year-old American Justin Rose continues to lead despite some setbacks on the back nine of the third round.
Rose Maintains Lead Despite Back Nine Struggles
Rose shined with four birdies on the front nine but had to accept three bogeys on the back nine. Three more birdies on the back nine contributed to a round of 68, not matching his impressive 62 on Thursday and 65 on Friday. Still, Rose holds a six-stroke lead atop the leaderboard, standing at 21 under par.
He is chased by American Joel Dahmen, who also posted a strong 68 on day three, moving up one spot to second place at 15 under par. Close behind are two Asian players tied at 13 under par: Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and South Korea’s Si Woo Kim, both tied for third place.
Both had to prove themselves on the South Course of the California venue on the third day. Hisatsune balanced two bogeys with three birdies on the front nine and remained bogey-free on the back nine, adding three more birdies to finish with a 68. Kim completed Saturday with a 69, despite a double bogey on hole 12. Seven birdies and two bogeys led to a three-under-par score for the day.
PGA Tour: Jäger Shows Strong Comeback and Leap Forward
German Stephan Jäger significantly improved after a 75 on the previous day. Following a challenging second round, Jäger birdied seven times in a flawless 65 round on Saturday, climbing 39 spots to a tie for sixth place.
Brooks Koepka, making his comeback from LIV Golf on the PGA Tour, had a mediocre third round and is tied for 61st at one over par. Matti Schmid made the cut on Friday but only improved 15 places to tied 30th after a 70 round.
