PGA Tour: Stephan Jäger Launches Comeback at Farmers Insurance Open

Stephan Jäger fires a flawless 65 to surge 39 spots and is tied 6th heading into the final round.

The Farmers Insurance Open at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, remains highly competitive on the PGA Tour. At the top, 45-year-old American Justin Rose holds his lead despite some setbacks on the back nine during the third round.

Rose Holds Lead Despite Back Nine Challenges

Rose dazzled with four birdies on the front nine but struggled with three bogeys on the back nine. Three additional birdies on the second half led to a 68 on the day, which was not enough to match his earlier rounds of 62 and 65. Still, Rose maintains a six-stroke lead atop the leaderboard and stands at 21 under par.

Following Rose is American Joel Dahmen, who also posted a solid 68 in the third round and moved up one spot to second place at 15 under par. Close behind at 13 under par are two Asian players sharing third place: Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and South Korea’s Si Woo Kim.

Both golfers faced the South Course at Torrey Pines on day three. Hisatsune balanced two bogeys with three birdies on the front nine and remained bogey-free on the back nine, adding three more birdies to finish with a 68. Kim scored a 69 despite a double bogey on hole 12, combining seven birdies and two bogeys for three under par on the day.

PGA Tour: Jäger’s Strong Comeback and Leap Forward

German golfer Stephan Jäger rebounded significantly after a 75 on the previous day. Recording seven birdies and no mistakes, Jäger shot a strong 65 in round three, vaulting 39 positions up the leaderboard to a tie for sixth place (T6).

Brooks Koepka, making his comeback to the PGA Tour from LIV Golf at the Farmers Insurance Open, had a mediocre third round, shooting one over par and sitting tied for 61st place. Matti Schmid made the cut and improved 15 places to tie for 30th after posting a 70.
