Stephan Jäger Makes Strong Comeback at Farmers Insurance Open on PGA Tour

With a flawless 65, Stephan Jäger climbs 39 spots and is T6 before the final round.

The Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California remains exciting. At the top, 45-year-old American Justin Rose holds his ground despite some setbacks on the back nine of the third round.

Rose Holds Lead Despite Back Nine Struggles

Rose shined with four birdies on the front nine but suffered three bogeys on the back nine. Three additional birdies later could only secure him a 68 round, unable to match his 62 on Thursday and 65 on Friday. Nevertheless, Rose maintains a six-shot lead at 21 under par at the top of the leaderboard.

Chasing Rose is American Joel Dahmen, who also posted a strong 68 on the third day, moving up one place to second at 15 under par. Close behind are two Asian players tied at 13 under par: Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and Korea’s Si Woo Kim, sharing third place (T3).

Both players faced challenges on the South Course, with Hisatsune balancing two bogeys and three birdies on the front nine, followed by a bogey-free back nine with three more birdies for a round of 68. Kim shot 69, despite a double bogey on hole 12, finishing with seven birdies and two bogeys for three under par on the day.

PGA Tour: Jäger’s Strong Comeback and Leap Up Leaderboard

German Stephan Jäger significantly improved after a 75 in the previous round, playing a flawless round of 65 with seven birdies on Saturday. This performance lifted him to a tie for sixth (T6), an impressive jump of 39 spots on the leaderboard.

Brooks Koepka, making his PGA Tour return after LIV Golf, posted a mediocre third round, one over par, and is currently tied for 61st place. Matti Schmid made the cut but improved only 15 places to tied 30th with a 70 round on Friday.
