Stephan Jäger Launches Comeback Charge at Farmers Insurance Open

With a flawless 65, Stephan Jäger makes a strong comeback, climbs 39 spots, and is tied 6th before the final round.

The Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, remains highly competitive. Leading the field is 45-year-old American Justin Rose, despite some setbacks on the back nine during the third round.

Rose Holds Lead Despite Back Nine Challenges

Rose shined with four birdies on the front nine but struggled with three bogeys on the back nine. Though he added three more birdies in the latter half, his round totaled a 68, falling short of his impressive 62 on Thursday and 65 on Friday. Nevertheless, Rose maintains a six-shot lead atop the leaderboard, standing at 21 under par.

American Joel Dahmen trails Rose after posting a strong 68 on day three, moving up one spot to alone hold second place at 15 under par. Close behind, two Asian players share third place at 13 under par: Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and South Korea’s Si Woo Kim.

Both Hisatsune and Kim competed on the South Course on Saturday. Hisatsune balanced two bogeys with three birdies on the front nine and played bogey-free on the back nine, adding three more birdies for a 68. Kim recorded a 69, including a double bogey on hole 12, but finished three under par with seven birdies and two bogeys.

PGA Tour: Jäger’s Strong Comeback and Leap Forward

German golfer Stephan Jäger dramatically improved from a 75 on Friday, delivering a flawless 65 with seven birdies on Saturday. His surge moved him 39 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for sixth going into the final round.

Meanwhile, Brooks Koepka, making his PGA Tour comeback from LIV Golf at the Farmers Insurance Open, posted a modest round one over par, placing him tied 61st. Matti Schmid made the cut and improved 15 positions to share 30th with a 70 on Saturday.
