Freddy Schott fought for the lead on day three of the DP World Tour in Bahrain ahead of the final day. With a flawless front nine and four birdies, he took the lead early from the leader Calum Hill. Hill lost his two-shot advantage quickly with three bogeys and just one birdie in the first six holes. Schott first leveled with birdies on holes 3 and 5 and extended his lead with precise approach shots and confident putts on 8 and 9.

However, on holes 12 and 13, Schott bogeyed twice. Tied again with Hill, both players birdied the 14th, reaching a temporary total of -15. Hill regained the lead with another birdie on 15, while Schott was unable to mount a decisive challenge and bogeyed the 18th. Hill leads by two strokes (-16) over Schott (-14) going into the final day.
After the round, the German said, ‘I’m a bit disappointed about the three-putt on the last hole, but it was a good day. We’re just doing what we’ve done so far. I thought it might take a couple of days to catch him. He had some trouble early on, and suddenly we were all square. I’m still following the plan to catch him tomorrow and looking forward to it. It would be great if it works out, but it’s a bit early to think about it.’
