Schott Battles for Top Spot on Moving Day at DP World Tour in Bahrain
Freddy Schott fought on day three of the DP World Tour in Bahrain for the lead ahead of the final day. With flawless first nine holes and four birdies, he took the lead early from leader Calum Hill. Hill lost his two-stroke lead quickly with three bogeys and only one birdie in the first six holes. Schott initially caught up with birdies on holes 3 and 5 and extended his lead with further successes on holes 8 and 9 through precise shots onto the green and sure putts.

However, on holes 12 and 13, he had to accept bogeys. Tied again with Hill, both played birdies on 14 to reach a temporary total score of -15. Calum Hill regained the lead with another birdie on 15, while Schott could no longer make a decisive attack and recorded an unfortunate bogey on 18. Thus, Hill leads by two strokes (-16) over Schott (-14) going into the final day.
After the round, the German said: \”I’m a bit disappointed that it ended with a three-putt on the last hole but it was a good day. We’re just doing what we have done so far. I thought it might take two days to catch him (Hill). He had some problems on the first holes and suddenly we were tied. I’m still following the plan to catch him tomorrow and look forward to it. It would be great if it works out but it’s still a bit early to think about that.\”
International Pursuers Increase the Pressure
Close behind Hill and Schott lie international pursuers like last week’s winner, Patrick Reed. The American, who announced his departure from LIV Golf and his comeback on the PGA Tour this summer before the tournament, started the third round fiercely.
