Schmid and Jäger Advance to the Weekend
Matti Schmid secured the cut with a strong second round. After opening with a 73 (+1), the German shot a flawless 67 (-5) on Friday. Despite a bogey to start, he rebounded with six birdies on holes 2, 5, 7, 11, 13, and 15, jumping 57 places to a tie for 45th.
Stephan Jäger also advanced to the weekend. He stands at -4 after two rounds. A challenging stretch with three consecutive bogeys on holes 6 to 8 disturbed his rhythm, but he responded with a birdie. A further setback on the back nine led to a 75 (+3), dropping him 40 places overall, but safely through the cut.
Koepka Shows Comeback Form on the PGA Tour
Brooks Koepka demonstrated his class during his comeback on the PGA Tour. After a first round of +1, the major winner improved significantly with a 68 (-4) in the second round. Justin Rose Pulls Ahead at the Top
Justin Rose remains the man to beat. Following an impressive opening round 62 (-10), the Englishman confirmed his top form with a 65 (-7) featuring six birdies and an eagle against only one bogey. With a total of -17, Rose extends his weekend lead by four strokes and already sets a personal best after 36 holes, bettering his previous record of -15.
