Schott Battles for the Lead on the DP World Tour Moving Day in Bahrain

Freddy Schott competed fiercely on day three of the DP World Tour in Bahrain, aiming to take the lead going into the final day. With flawless first nine holes and four birdies, he overtook leader Calum Hill early on. Hill had lost his two-shot lead quickly with three bogeys and only one birdie in the first six holes. Schott initially leveled with birdies on holes 3 and 5, then extended his lead with precise approach shots and confident putting on holes 8 and 9.

However, bogeys on holes 12 and 13 brought him back level with Hill, who both made birdies on the 14th to reach a temporary score of -15 overall. Hill then reclaimed the lead with another birdie on 15, while Schott was unable to mount a decisive attack, finishing with an unfortunate bogey on 18. Hill leads by two strokes (-16) over Schott (-14) going into the final day.

After the round, Schott said: \”I’m a bit disappointed about the three-putt on the last hole, but it was a good day. We just keep doing what we’ve done so far. I thought it might take two days to catch him. He had some trouble on the first holes and suddenly we were tied. I still plan to catch him tomorrow and look forward to it. It would be great if that works out, but it’s too early to think about that.\”

International Contenders Increase the Pressure

Close behind Hill and Schott are international contenders including last week’s winner, Patrick Reed. The American, who announced his departure from LIV Golf and his comeback to the PGA Tour this summer before the tournament, started strongly in round three.
