Schmid and Jäger Advance to Weekend Rounds

Matti Schmid secured the cut with a strong second round. After opening with a 73 (+1), the German posted a flawless 67 (-5) on Friday. Although he started with a bogey, six birdies on holes 2, 5, 7, 11, 13, and 15 propelled him 57 places forward to a tie for 45th.

Stephan Jäger also made it to the weekend, standing at -4 after two rounds. Despite a tough stretch with three consecutive bogeys on holes 6 to 8 disrupting his rhythm, Jäger fought back with a birdie. However, an additional stroke lost on the back nine resulted in a 75 (+3), dropping him 40 places but still comfortably within the cut line.

Koepka Shows Comeback Form on PGA Tour

In his PGA Tour comeback, Brooks Koepka demonstrated his class. After an opening round of +1, the Major winner improved significantly with a 68 (-4) on the second day, including three birdies, one eagle, and only one bogey, finishing at -3 overall to just barely make the weekend. He commented, \”I think yesterday I was excited to play, nervous, and unsure of what to expect. Today I felt more normal.\”

Rose Pulls Away at the Top

Justin Rose remains the benchmark. Following an outstanding 62 (-10) in the first round, the Englishman confirmed his top form with another strong 65 (-7). Six birdies and an eagle were offset by just one bogey. With a total score of -17, Rose expanded his lead to four strokes before the weekend. He already secured a significant achievement by surpassing his personal best of -15 after 36 holes.

International Contenders in Pursuit

Joel Dahmen posted the best round of the day with a 63 (-9), including three eagles, advancing 52 spots to share third
