DP World Tour: Freddy Schott Battles Calum Hill for Lead in Bahrain

Freddy Schott fights for the lead ahead of the DP World Tour final day in Bahrain. Von Dellingshausen and Girrbach are positioned in the top 20.

Schott Fights for the Top Spot on the DP World Tour Moving Day in Bahrain

Freddy Schott battled on day three of the DP World Tour in Bahrain for the lead ahead of the final day. With flawless play in the first nine holes and four birdies, he took the lead early from front-runner Calum Hill. Hill quickly lost his two-stroke advantage after three bogeys and only one birdie in the first six holes. Schott initially leveled the score with birdies on holes 3 and 5, then extended his lead with precise shots onto the green and confident putts on holes 8 and 9.

However, bogeys on holes 12 and 13 brought him back to tie with Hill. Both players made birdies on the 14th hole, reaching a temporary total score of -15. Calum Hill reclaimed the lead with another birdie on 15, while Schott could not mount a decisive challenge and recorded an unfortunate bogey on the 18th. Hill enters the final day with a two-shot lead (-16) over Schott (-14).

After his round, the German said: \”I’m a bit disappointed with the three-putt on the last hole, but it was a good day. We’re just doing what we’ve done so far. I thought it might be a matter of two days to catch him (Hill). He had some trouble on the first holes and suddenly we were tied. I still plan to catch him tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it. It would be great if it worked out, but it’s still a bit early to think about that.\”

International Chasers Increase the Pressure

Close behind Hill and Schott are international challengers including last week’s winner, Patrick Reed. The American, who announced his departure from LIV Golf and his comeback to the PGA Tour this summer before the tournament started, had a fiery start to the third round.

Reed opened with a birdie and added three more on the first six holes. He remained aggressive on the back nine, starting with a birdie and scoring an eagle on the 13th. Thanks to precise iron shots and reliable putts, he stood at -7 for the day through hole 13. A bogey on 16 slightly slowed him, but he finished with a round of -6 and currently sits at -12 overall.
