DP World Tour: Freddy Schott Battles Calum Hill for Lead in Bahrain

Freddy Schott fights for the DP World Tour lead ahead of the final day in Bahrain. Von Dellingshausen and Girrbach hold top 20 positions.

Schott Battles for the Lead on Moving Day at DP World Tour in Bahrain

Freddy Schott contested the lead on day three of the DP World Tour event in Bahrain. With a flawless front nine including four birdies, he took over the lead early from Calum Hill, who had lost his two-stroke advantage after struggling with three bogeys and only one birdie in the opening six holes. Schott leveled with birdies on holes 3 and 5 and extended his lead on holes 8 and 9 with precise approaches and confident putting.

However, bogeys on holes 12 and 13 erased Schott’s lead. Both players birdied the 14th hole to tie again at a cumulative -15. Calum Hill regained the lead with a birdie on the 15th, while Schott could not mount a decisive challenge and posted an unfortunate bogey on 18. Hill leads by two strokes (-16) over Schott (-14) going into the final day.

After his round, Schott said: \”I’m a bit disappointed about the three-putt on the last hole, but it was a good day. We’ll just keep doing what we have been. I thought it might take two days to catch him (Hill). He struggled early, and suddenly we were tied. I still plan to catch him tomorrow and look forward to that. It would be great if it works out, but it’s still a bit early to think about it.\”

International Contenders Add Pressure

Close behind Hill and Schott are international challengers, including last week’s winner, Patrick Reed. The American, who announced his departure from LIV Golf and a return to the PGA Tour this summer, started the third round strong. Reed opened with a birdie and added three more across the first six holes. He remained aggressive on the back nine with another birdie start and an eagle on the 13th. Thanks to accurate
