Schmid and Jäger Advance to the Weekend

Matti Schmid secured the cut with a strong second round after opening with a 73 (+1), posting a flawless 67 (-5) on Friday. Despite starting with a bogey, he followed with six birdies on holes 2, 5, 7, 11, 13, and 15, climbing 57 places to a tied 45th position.

Stephan Jäger also advanced to the weekend, standing at -4 after two rounds. Though he faced a rough patch with three consecutive bogeys from holes 6 to 8 that disrupted his rhythm, he countered with a birdie. However, a further stroke loss on the back nine led to a 75 (+3) score, dropping him 40 places but safely within the cut.

Koepka Shows Comeback Skills on the PGA Tour

At his PGA Tour comeback, Brooks Koepka displayed his class. After an opening round of +1, the major winner improved significantly with a 68 (-4) on day two, including three birdies, an eagle, and only one bogey, finishing at -3 total and narrowly making the weekend. Koepka said about his start: \”I think I was excited to play yesterday, nervous, and uncertain about what to expect. Today I felt more normal.\”

Rose Pulls Away at the Top

Justin Rose continues to set the pace. Following an outstanding 62 (-10) opening round, the Englishman confirmed his excellent form with another strong 65 (-7). With six birdies and an eagle against just one bogey, Rose extended his lead to four strokes at -17 total before the weekend. He has already celebrated a personal success, surpassing his previous 36-hole best of -15 with a remarkable -17.
