Schott battles for the lead on the moving day of the DP World Tour in Bahrain
Freddy Schott fought on day three of the DP World Tour in Bahrain to take the lead before the final day. With flawless first nine holes and four birdies, he took the lead early from current leader Calum Hill. Hill lost his two-stroke lead quickly with three bogeys and only one birdie on the first six holes. Schott caught up with birdies on holes 3 and 5 and extended his lead with precise shots and safe putts on holes 8 and 9.

However, he had to accept bogeys on holes 12 and 13. Tied again with Hill, both made birdies on 14 to reach a temporary overall score of -15. Calum Hill reclaimed the lead with another birdie on 15 as Schott couldn’t make a decisive move and recorded an unfortunate bogey on 18. Hill goes into the final day two strokes ahead (-16) over Schott (-14).
After the round, the German said: \”I’m a bit disappointed about the three-putt on the last hole but it was a good day. We just keep doing what we’ve done so far. I thought it might be a matter of two days to catch him (Hill). He had some trouble on the first holes and suddenly we were tied. I continue to pursue the plan to catch him tomorrow and am looking forward to it. It would be great if that worked out but it’s still a bit early to think about it.\”
International chasers increase the pressure
Close behind Hill and Schott are international contenders, including last week’s winner, Patrick Reed. The American, who announced before the tournament his departure from LIV Golf and a comeback to the PGA Tour this summer, started the third round strongly.
Reed opened with a birdie and posted three more on the first six holes. He
