YouTube Star Wesley Bryan Still Suspended Despite LIV Returnees on PGA Tour

Following the comebacks of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed on the PGA Tour, debate reignites over YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan’s suspension.

Ten months ago, PGA Tour professional and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was indefinitely suspended by the PGA Tour. The reason was his participation in a LIV Golf Creator Event, the ‘LIV Duels’, which competes with the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. With the returns of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed, Bryan had hoped to rejoin the biggest golf tour in the world for the new season.

No Probation Opportunity for Wesley Bryan Yet

However, Bryan will not get this chance at the moment. “Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka’s return to the Tour has no bearing on my situation,” Bryan announced on X. “I requested a conversation to possibly lift my suspension, but was told no such discussion would take place.” Many fans and observers find this unfair, as Bryan never officially played for LIV Golf, unlike other players who received clearance. Instead, he participated in a 9-hole scramble YouTube event held in cooperation with LIV Golf, and many consider these situations not equivalent.

One-Year Suspension for Returnees

There are other cases beyond Bryan, Koepka, and Reed where previously suspended players will return to the PGA Tour. Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford will come back after their time with LIV Golf, but unlike Reed and Koepka, they must wait before their debuts. Players not meeting the “Returning Member Program” criteria can only compete starting next season. Perez and Swafford have officially regained PGA membership but can participate in tournaments only from 2027.

Speculation exists that a similar option may open for Wesley Bryan once more than a year has passed since his participation in the “LIV Duels.” Whether the PGA Tour will offer this to the one-time tour winner remains to be seen.
