Schmid and Jäger make the cut at the PGA Tour Farmers Insurance Open. Meanwhile, Justin Rose extends his lead.
Schmid and Jäger Advance to the Weekend
Matti Schmid secured the cut with a strong second round. After opening with a 73 (+1), the German shot a flawless 67 (-5) on Friday. Despite starting with a bogey, he remained error-free afterwards, making six birdies on holes 2, 5, 7, 11, 13, and 15, moving up 57 places to a tie for 45th.
Stephan Jäger also made it through to the weekend. The German stands at -4 after two rounds. A difficult stretch with three consecutive bogeys from holes 6 to 8 disrupted his rhythm early. Today, I felt more normal.\”
Rose Pulls Away at the Top
Justin Rose remains the benchmark. Following an outstanding 62 (-10) opening round, the Englishman confirmed his top form with another strong 65 (-7). Six birdies and one eagle were offset by just one bogey. With a total of -17, Rose extended his lead to four strokes ahead of the weekend. He can already celebrate success after 36 holes, surpassing his personal best of -15 after two rounds.
