Despite LIV Returnees, YouTube Star Wesley Bryan Remains Suspended from PGA Tour

Following the comebacks of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed on the PGA Tour, debate reignites over YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan’s suspension.

Ten months ago, PGA Tour professional and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was suspended indefinitely by the PGA Tour. The reason was his participation in a LIV Golf creator event, the ‘LIV Duels’, which competed with the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. With the returns of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed, Bryan hoped to participate in the biggest golf tour in the world for the new season.

No Chance of Reprieve Yet for Wesley Bryan

However, Bryan will not receive such a chance at this time. “Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka’s return to the tour has no bearing on my situation,” Bryan announced on X. “I have requested a meeting to potentially lift my suspension, but I have been told that no such conversation will take place.” Many fans and observers find this situation confusing, as Bryan, unlike other players who have been granted permission, never officially played for LIV Golf. Instead, he took part in the 9-hole scramble YouTube event held in cooperation with LIV Golf, and many believe these situations should not be equated.

One-Year Suspension for Returnees

Besides Bryan, Koepka, and Reed, there are other cases where previously suspended players can return to the PGA Tour in the future. Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford will return to American soil after their time with LIV Golf but, unlike Reed and Koepka, must wait to debut. Players who do not meet the criteria of the “Returning Member Program” can only compete starting the next season. Perez and Swafford have officially regained their PGA membership but may only participate in tournaments from 2027 onwards.

There are speculations that Bryan might have this option in the future if more than a year has passed since his participation in the “LIV Duels.” Whether the PGA Tour will offer this to the one-time tour winner remains to be seen.
