DP World Tour: Freddy Schott Moves to 2nd at Bahrain Championship

Freddy Schott confirmed his strong performance with a 67, positioning himself 2nd for the Bahrain Championship weekend on the DP World Tour.

Freddy Schott secured a solid 67 on the second day of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour, putting him in a strong position for the weekend. Sitting at 12-under par, he leads a four-shot advantage over the chasing pack. However, Scotland’s Calum Hill set the pace by matching the course record with a remarkable 61. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen sits just one stroke behind the group of chasers at 14th place after a one-under round. Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider missed the cut.

DP World Tour: Freddy Schott’s Second Eagle of the Week

Following an excellent opening round on Thursday, Freddy Schott aimed to maintain his form on Friday and position himself well for the weekend. Starting strong, he birdied hole 1 after a precise approach shot. Though his drive on hole 3 veered right and his second landed in the rough, Schott recovered excellently to sink his second birdie of the day. He added another birdie on hole 9, closing the front nine at three-under. On the back nine, he birdied 13, eagle-ed hole 14 after two perfect shots from nearly seven meters, though he dropped a bogey on 15. He finished with a birdie on 17 and a bogey on 18, ending the day five-under and in second place heading into the weekend.

Nicolai Von Dellingshausen struggled to replicate his previous day’s score but finished one-under par and dropped to 14th place. Starting on the back nine, he played solid golf with birdies on his opening hole, 13, and 1, keeping him near the lead. However, two poor shots on hole 3 and a missed short putt on 7 resulted in two bogeys to close out the round. With a total of seven-under, Von Dellingshausen remains within striking distance of the leaders, just one stroke behind the group tied for fourth.

Calum Hill Ties Course Record to Lead

Calum Hill carded a flawless round on Friday, making eleven birdies without a single dropped shot. His 61 — 11 under par — equalled the course record at Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, giving him a four-shot lead heading into the weekend. The 31-year-old is chasing his first victory since the Joburg Open in March 2025.
