DP World Tour: Freddy Schott Secures 2nd Place Heading into Weekend

Freddy Schott confirmed his strong form with a 67 and sits second at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour. Only a course record holds him back.

Freddy Schott secured a 67 on the second day of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour, placing him strongly for the weekend with a total of 12 under par, four shots ahead of a chasing pack. However, Scotland’s Calum Hill leads after setting a course record with a 61. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen, after a one-under round, sits in a promising 14th, just one shot behind the main chasing group. Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider missed the cut.

DP World Tour: Freddy Schott’s Second Eagle of the Week

After an excellent round on Thursday, Freddy Schott aimed to maintain his performance on Friday to secure a strong position for the weekend. He started well, making a birdie on hole 1 and overcoming challenges on hole 3 to record another birdie. He added a third birdie on hole 9 to reach three under par on the front nine. On the back nine, he birdied hole 13 and scored his second eagle of the week on hole 14 with two perfect shots, sinking a roughly 7-meter putt. Though he faced setbacks with bogeys on holes 15 and 18, a birdie on 17 kept him strong. His final score of 5 under par gave him second place heading into the weekend.

Nicolai Von Dellingshausen could not fully replicate his previous day’s form, finishing one under par and dropping to 14th place. Starting from the back nine, he played error-free for a stretch, securing birdies on holes 10, 13, and 1, keeping him near the leaders. However, poor shots on hole 3 and a missed short putt on hole 7 resulted in two bogeys to close his round. Nevertheless, his total of seven under par puts him within striking distance of the weekend, just one shot behind the group tied for fourth.

Calum Hill Sets Course Record to Take Lead

Calum Hill delivered a flawless round on Friday, recording eleven birdies with no dropped shots. His score of 61, eleven under par, tied the course record at Royal GC Bahrain and earned him a four-shot lead heading into the weekend. For the 31-year-old, this could mark his first victory since the Joburg Open in March 2025.
