DP World Tour: Freddy Schott Secures 2nd Place Heading into Bahrain Championship Weekend

Freddy Schott confirmed his strong form with a 67, securing 2nd place at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour.

Freddy Schott delivered another strong performance with a 67 on the second day of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour, positioning himself well for the weekend. Standing at 12 under par, he leads a group by four shots. Ahead of him is Scotsman Calum Hill, who posted a record-equalling round of 61. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen, after a one-under round, holds 14th place just one shot behind the chasing pack. Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider missed the cut.

DP World Tour: Freddy Schott’s Second Eagle of the Week

Following an excellent first round on Thursday, Freddy Schott aimed to maintain his performance and secure a strong weekend position on Friday. He started strong, holing a birdie on the first hole. Despite a wayward drive and a second shot into the rough on hole 3, he managed to recover well, scoring his second birdie. He added another birdie on hole 9 for a three-under front nine. On the back nine, he birdied 13 and then scored his second eagle of the week on hole 14 with two perfect shots followed by a putt from nearly seven meters. Although he bogeyed holes 15 and 18, and birdied 17, he finished five under par on the day, securing second place going into the weekend.

Nicolai Von Dellingshausen could not quite match his day one score, finishing one under par and dropping to 14th place. Starting on the back nine, he played error-free for a while, birdieing on his first hole, 13, and 1 to stay near the top. However, two poor shots on hole 3 and a missed short putt on 7 led to two bogeys. Despite this, with a total score of seven under par, he remains within striking distance for the weekend, just one shot behind the group tied for fourth.

Calum Hill Takes Lead with Course Record

Calum Hill delivered a flawless round on Friday, carding eleven birdies without a single dropped shot. His 61, eleven under par, equaled the course record at Royal GC Bahrain, giving him a four-shot lead heading into the weekend. The 31-year-old is aiming for his first victory since the Joburg Open in March 2025.
