After Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed’s comebacks on the PGA Tour, a debate has reignited about the suspension of YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan.
Ten months ago, PGA Tour pro and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was suspended indefinitely by the PGA Tour. The reason was his participation in a LIV Golf Creator event, the ‘LIV Duels,’ which is a competing event to the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. With Koepka and Reed returning, Bryan had hoped to rejoin the world’s biggest golf tour this season.
No Chance of Reinstatement Yet for Wesley Bryan
However, Bryan is not being given that chance at this time. “Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka’s return to the tour has no bearing on my situation,” Bryan stated on X. “I requested a conversation to potentially lift my suspension, but I was told no such discussion will take place.” Many fans and observers are confused, as Bryan never officially played for LIV Golf compared to others who were approved. Instead, he participated in the 9-hole scramble YouTube event held in cooperation with LIV Golf, a situation many see as not equivalent.
One-Year Suspension for Returning Players
Besides Bryan, Koepka, and Reed, other previously suspended players like Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford are set to return to the PGA Tour after their time with LIV Golf. However, unlike Reed and Koepka, they must wait longer to debut. Players who do not meet the ‘Returning Member Program’ criteria can only compete starting next season. Perez and Swafford have regained PGA membership but can only participate in tournaments starting in 2027.
There is speculation that Wesley Bryan might have a similar option in the future once more than a year has passed since his participation in the ‘LIV Duels.’ Whether the PGA Tour will offer this to the one-time tour winner remains uncertain.
Appreciate all the support recently! Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka coming back to the tour has no bearing on my situation. I have reached out and asked for a conversation to potentially uplift my suspension, and I have been told that no such conversation will be given….
