Freddy Schott confirmed his strong form with a 67, moving into 2nd place at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour. Only a course record holds him back.
Freddy Schott secured a 67 on the second day of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour, positioning himself strongly for the weekend. He stands at 12 under par, four shots ahead of a chasing group. However, ahead of him is Scotland’s Calum Hill, who set a new course record with a 61. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen, after a one-under round, sits in a promising 14th place, just one shot behind the large chasing pack. Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider missed the cut.
DP World Tour: Freddy Schott’s Second Eagle of the Week
Following an excellent round on Thursday, Freddy Schott aimed to confirm his previous day’s performance and position himself well for the weekend. From the start, he delivered. On the first hole, he skillfully placed the ball next to the hole and then sank his first birdie of the day. On the third hole, a slightly off-target drive and a second shot into the rough challenged him, but Schott recovered well to secure his second birdie. A third birdie on the ninth completed a -3 front nine. On the back nine, he continued strong with a birdie on the 13th before using two perfect shots on the 14th, followed by a nearly seven-meter putt, to record his second eagle of the week. Despite some hiccups—his first bogey on the 15th hole and another bogey on the 18th after a late birdie on the 17th—he finished with a 5-under-par round, entering the weekend in second place.
