Nelly Korda Questions WTGL Concept, Leaves Participation Open

Major winner Nelly Korda is torn over the new Women’s Tomorrow Golf League, criticizing the concept and leaving her participation undecided.

The Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) announced earlier this year its expansion to include the LPGA Tour by late 2026, forming the Women’s Tomorrow Golf League (WTGL) with top LPGA players. While the WTGL revealed early participants like world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, triple Olympic medalist Lydia Ko, and seven-time U.S. Solheim Cup player Lexi Thompson, two-time major and Olympic champion Nelly Korda’s name was notably absent.

Nelly Korda Voices Criticism Toward WTGL

On Tuesday, during a practice session at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Florida, Korda spoke to the American golf magazine Golfweek expressing mixed feelings about the new league. She criticized TGL, saying, ‘I’m surprised no other players have spoken out. It’s really a shame we’re not playing alongside the men. There’s no better way to advance golf, and it would have been revolutionary. I believe it would be the first time men and women stand on the same course competing for the same prize money. But I also think it’s great we have this opportunity. Those are my mixed feelings.’

Korda also suggested that instead of creating a separate women’s version of TGL, it might have been possible to include women on existing men’s teams. She noted many colleagues on the LPGA Tour share similar views.

More WTGL Signings: Zhang and Woad Join

Recently, WTGL announced two additional signings for the upcoming indoor league starting at the end of 2026. Rose Zhang and Lottie Woad have decided to compete with other teams at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The 27-year-old Korda stated in a press discussion that she is still contemplating participation, saying, ‘I’m still weighing the time commitment. I haven’t thought too much about it yet because I’m fully focused on season preparation. I think there are still logistical issues to resolve, so I’ll be weighing my options soon.’

The Tomorrow Golf League, founded by career Grand Slam winners Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland and Tiger Woods from the United States along with former NBC Sports executive Mike McCarley, launched its innovative men’s indoor league’s second season on December 28, 2025, broadcast live on Sky.
