Patrick Reed to Return to PGA Tour in Summer 2026, Leaving LIV Golf

Patrick Reed will return to the PGA Tour in summer 2026, officially ending his stint with LIV Golf. Other players also make the switch.

Patrick Reed Returns to the PGA Tour

Patrick Reed, a nine-time PGA Tour winner, is making his way back to the PGA Tour from LIV Golf. After relinquishing his membership in 2022 to play on the LIV Golf tour, he has now offered his return to the PGA Tour.

“After careful consideration, my family and I have decided that I will no longer play on the LIV Golf Tour. I am excited to announce my return to the PGA Tour as a Past Champion for the 2027 season.” He viewed his time at LIV positively and emphasized the importance of family in his decision to return: “I enjoyed my time at LIV Golf and have grown as a person through friendships with players. Family is my priority, and playing closer to them is what really matters to me. You don’t get days back.”

His victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour also reinforced his decision. He realized how much he missed competing with others.

Details of the Return

Starting in summer, Reed will be eligible to compete as a non-member. The PGA Tour explains the early return by noting Reed surrendered his membership in 2022 before any rules violations occurred due to participation in other tours. Reed will participate in PGA Tour events from August 25, 2026, under the Past Champion category. He may also improve his PGA Tour status through the DP World Tour, where he remains an honorary lifetime member. Participation in FedEx Cup events in the fall will require qualifying or sponsor exemptions.

Like the Returning Member Program, through which Brooks Koepka is also returning, Reed will be excluded from the Player Equity Program until 2030 as a former member returning to the PGA Tour.

LIV Golf confirmed the departure in their own statement, noting no contract extension was reached but expressing gratitude for Reed’s contributions at 4Aces Golf Club. They also underscored their commitment to supporting players to compete “where and when they want” and respect Reed’s decision.

Other Former LIV Players Also Return

Reed’s return is not isolated. Three other former LIV players—Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford—have already regained their PGA Tour memberships but still face some disciplinary inquiries.

While Perez and Swafford are eligible to compete again starting January 1, 2027, Kevin Na’s exact return date remains under review by the Tour.
