Besides Stephan Jäger and Matti Schmid, two more German pros qualified on Monday for the Farmers Insurance Open.
At the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, the main talking point is Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour. However, beyond the stars, the golfers have much at stake, even before the official tournament begins.
PGA Tour Monday Qualifier
In the Monday Qualifier, 60 players competed for four spots at the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course. The qualifying event took place at Mission Viejo Country Club. Among the successful participants were two German players. Thomas Rosenmüller shared first place with Swedish Henrik Norlander at seven under par. Norlander impressed with five consecutive birdies on the back nine, while Rosenmüller spread his nine stroke gains across the entire round. Starting at hole 10, Rosenmüller had some struggles with two bogeys on holes 7 and 9 but maintained his position at the top. Crucially, he was able to reliably convert the par-5s into birdies to lead the field.
Sharing third place at five under par, American players Hunter Logan and Jeremy Paul also qualified for the Farmers Insurance Open. Paul also started at hole 10 and played a remarkable back nine including an eagle on hole 1, two birdies, and no bogeys. Thus, Rosenmüller and Paul complete the German contingent at Torrey Pines.

In the days leading up to the tournament start, there were further changes to the Farmers Insurance Open field. Brian Campbell, Jimmy Stanger, Nico Echavarria, Patton Kizzire, and Michael Kim withdrew, allowing Matt Kuchar, Justin Lower, Taylor Moore, Joel Dahmen, and Sam Ryder to move in. Furthermore, with Brooks Koepka participating, the field size expands to 147 players, enabling Jackson Suber and Lanto Griffin to join as well.
