PGA Tour: Two Germans Qualify via Monday Qualifier for Farmers Insurance Open

Besides Stephan Jäger and Matti Schmid, two more German pros qualified Monday for the Farmers Insurance Open.

At the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, the main talking point is Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour. However, beyond the stars, there is much at stake for the golfers, even before the official tournament begins.

PGA Tour Monday Qualifier

Sixty players competed for four spots at the Monday Qualifier held at the Mission Viejo Country Club for the upcoming event at the renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course. Among the successful qualifiers were two Germans. Thomas Rosenmüller tied for first place with Swede Henrik Norlander, both finishing seven under par. Norlander impressed with five consecutive birdies on the back nine, while Rosenmüller spread his nine stroke gains throughout the round. Starting on hole 10, Rosenmüller faced two bogeys on holes 7 and 9 but maintained the lead. Key to his success was converting the par-5 holes consistently into birdies to secure his top position.

Sharing third place at five under par were Americans Hunter Logan and Jeremy Paul, both securing their spots for the Farmers Insurance Open. Paul also started on hole 10 and delivered an impressive back nine featuring an eagle on hole 1, two birdies, and no bogeys. Thus, Rosenmüller and Paul complete the German representation at Torrey Pines.

In the days leading up to the tournament, there were further changes to the Farmers Insurance Open field. Brian Campbell, Jimmy Stanger, Nico Echavarria, Patton Kizzire, and Michael Kim withdrew, allowing Matt Kuchar, Justin Lower, Taylor Moore, Joel Dahmen, and Sam Ryder to move into the field. Additionally, the field was expanded to 147 players due to Brooks Koepka’s participation, which also enabled Jackson Suber and Lanto Griffin to join the tournament.
