Major winner Nelly Korda is conflicted about the new Women’s Tomorrow Golf League, criticizing the concept and keeping her participation uncertain.
The Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) announced earlier this year an expansion to include the LPGA Tour from late 2026, forming the Women’s Tomorrow Golf League (WTGL) featuring top LPGA players. While initial participants like world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, triple Olympic medalist Lydia Ko, and seven-time Solheim Cup player Lexi Thompson were announced, two-time major and Olympic champion Nelly Korda’s name was notably absent.
Nelly Korda Expresses Mixed Feelings About WTGL
On Tuesday, Korda spoke for the first time to the American golf magazine Golfweek about the newly founded league. During training at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Florida, she expressed her mixed feelings towards WTGL and criticized TGL: “I’m surprised no other players have spoken out. It’s really a shame we’re not playing alongside the men. There’s no better way to advance golf, and it would have been revolutionary. I think it would have been the first time men and women competed on the same course for the same prize money. However, I also think it’s great that we have this opportunity. These are my mixed feelings.”
Korda also suggested that instead of creating a separate women’s version of the TGL, it might have been possible to integrate one woman into the existing men’s teams. She mentioned that many on the LPGA Tour share similar views.
Additional WTGL Confirmations: Zhang and Woad Join
Recently, WTGL announced two more additions to the upcoming league starting late 2026. Rose Zhang and Lottie Woad have also chosen to compete in the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, against other teams. The 27-year-old Korda stated in a press talk that she is still considering participation. “I’m still weighing the time commitment,” she said. “I haven’t thought much about it yet because I’m fully focused on preseason preparations. Logistically, I think there’s still a lot to sort out. That’s why I will evaluate my options shortly.”
The Tomorrow Golf League was founded by career Grand Slam winners Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland and Tiger Woods from the United States, together with former NBC Sports executive Mike McCarley. The innovative men’s indoor league’s second season started December 28, 2025, with live broadcasts on Sky.
