Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh aims for a comeback, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the LIV Golf League for the 2026 season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner intends to remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time. This was agreed upon amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, known as a competitor who thrives on high-level competition, had mixed motivation during his LIV tenure. He originally joined LIV in 2022 mainly because injuries threatened to end his career early and he wanted a solid retirement fund. His opting out of the final contracted season is therefore not surprising, although questions remain about potential buyouts or salary repayments. He remains the owner of LIV team Smash GC, which has appointed Talor Gooch as the new captain.

Speculation mounts about where Koepka will next compete. He is immediately eligible for the DP World Tour, possibly with a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension dating from his last LIV event, after previous lifetime bans were substantially eased by former Commissioner Jay Monahan. Why be vindictive when a high-profile LIV returnee benefits the dominant PGA Tour? This crucial question seems partly answered: according to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reinstate his PGA Tour membership and return to the players’ pool.
