Major winner Nelly Korda expresses mixed feelings about the new Women’s Tomorrow Golf League, criticizes the concept and leaves participation open.
The Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) announced earlier this year the expansion of its indoor league, revealing that starting late 2026 the LPGA Tour will be integrated. This will lead to the creation of the Women’s Tomorrow Golf League (WTGL), featuring top LPGA players. While the WTGL has announced first participants like world number one Jeeno Thitikul from Thailand, triple Olympic medalist Lydia Ko from New Zealand, and seven-time US Solheim Cup participant Lexi Thompson from the USA, the name of two-time Major and Olympic champion Nelly Korda has not appeared so far.
Nelly Korda Shares Critical Views on WTGL
On Tuesday, during a training session at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club driving range in Orlando, Florida, Korda spoke to the American golf magazine Golfweek about the newly established league. She expressed mixed feelings about the WTGL and criticized TGL: \”I am surprised no other players have spoken out. It’s really a shame that we are not playing alongside the men. There is no better way to develop golf, and it would have been revolutionary. I think it would have been the first time men and women stood on the same course playing for the same prize money. But I also think it’s great that we get this chance. Those are my mixed feelings.\”
Korda also suggested that instead of founding a separate women’s version of TGL, integrating one woman into existing men’s teams could have been considered. She noted many peers on the LPGA Tour share her views.
