Gavin Green was retroactively suspended for three months by the DP World Tour due to a doping violation at the end of last year.
The DP World Tour announced that Malaysian golfer Gavin Green has been suspended for three months following a doping violation detected during an end-of-season doping control in 2025.
Prohibited Herbal Supplement Found
According to the European Tour Group, a banned substance was found in Green’s system which he had ingested as part of medical treatment through a herbal supplement. The Tour stated that Green fully cooperated with the DP World Tour and did not intentionally take the substance. However, DP World Tour’s anti-doping rules still apply, resulting in the suspension.
Retroactive Suspension and Disqualification
Green received a three-month retroactive suspension starting from December 5, 2025, making him eligible to compete again from the Joburg Open on March 5, 2026. Additionally, he was disqualified retrospectively from the 2025 Danish Golf Championship—the tournament where the doping test was conducted.
The European Tour Group announced it would not further comment on the suspension, and Green has accepted the penalty.
First Malaysian to Win the Asian Tour Order of Merit
After successful years as an amateur in Asia, Green turned professional in 2015 and achieved several good results. His career highlights include winning the 2017 Asian Tour Order of Merit, becoming the first Malaysian to do so. On the DP World Tour, he has achieved three second-place finishes and two third-place finishes to date.
