Bryson DeChambeau confirms LIV Golf start in 2026, Vijay Singh returns to PGA Tour at 62, Charley Hull launching YouTube channel. The Back Nine.
As expected, Brooks Koepka has opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh, stating he will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family. This amicable agreement was officially announced by LIV CEO Scott McNeil. However, speculation surrounds the five-time major champion, who is known for thriving in high-stakes competition, something he found limited in LIV. Koepka joined LIV in 2022 primarily as an end-of-career move after injuries, aiming for a solid retirement fund. Questions remain whether he had to buy out his last contract year or repay part of the guaranteed salary. He still owns LIV team Smash GC, with Talor Gooch now captain.
Most speculation focuses on where Koepka will play next. The DP World Tour could welcome him immediately, possibly with a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he serves a one-year suspension following his last LIV event after lifetime bans were reduced. Recent reports from ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reveal Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership not extended after 2022.
An eventual suspension would end by August, coinciding with the conclusion of the 2026 season at the Tour Championship from August 27–30. This timing aligns perfectly for Koepka’s re-entry in 2027 as the PGA Tour introduces a condensed schedule of nearly two dozen $20 million events with exclusive fields, ideal for Koepka and appealing to PGA Tour Enterprises investors leading the new top-tier league.
Jon Rahm recently suggested in the \”Subpar\” podcast that Koepka will likely return to PGA Tour, at least playing select big tournaments he enjoys. There’s speculation that given his major status, exceptions could be made by the Board, player directors, and the Tiger Woods-led competition committee, aligning with Rory McIlroy’s call for Koepka’s immediate return. A majority of fans seem to agree according to a non-scientific \”Bunkered\” survey.
DeChambeau confirms LIV start in 2026
Bryson DeChambeau has officially confirmed joining LIV Golf again in 2026. His Crushers team with Charles Howell III, Paul Casey, and Anirban Lahiri remains intact for the fifth season. Interestingly, DeChambeau did not announce a contract extension, fueling speculation about negotiations behind the scenes following Koepka’s departure.
Vijay Singh returns to PGA Tour at 62
In a surprising move, three-time major winner Vijay Singh returns to the PGA Tour at age 62. The Fiji native utilizes an exemption based on his career earnings and will play the Sony Open in Hawaii this week. Singh previously competed on the PGA Tour Champions with five wins, including the Senior Players Championship.
