DP World Tour Winner Patrick Reed Has Not Renewed LIV Golf Contract Yet

After his victory in Dubai, Patrick Reed faces a decision as his LIV Golf contract remains unresolved ahead of the season opener in Riyadh.

In a press conference following his win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour, Texan Patrick Reed spoke about his future with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf league. During the press conference, Reed was asked if he would participate in the LIV Golf season opener in Riyadh in early February, as he had previously been vague. Reed has been playing for LIV Golf’s 4Aces GC team since June 2022. He initially said he \”should be ready\” for the upcoming LIV Golf season, prompting further questions at the press conference.

LIV Golf Contract Not Yet Renewed

It became clear that the 35-year-old has not yet renewed his contract with LIV Golf and aims to finalize details with the Saudi league within approximately two weeks before the kickoff tournament, LIV Golf Riyadh, from February 4 to 7. \”We are still working on the contract details,\” Reed said, adding, \”We’re not done yet.\”

Reed explained that during tournament weeks he focuses less on business matters: \”I don’t like to talk about business or things like that while playing. That’s why Monday through Wednesday is the only time to discuss such things,\” Reed added. \”When I arrived here this week, I knew I’d focus solely on golf from Thursday onwards. Starting tonight and tomorrow, we can talk about other things again.\”

Patrick Reed: \”Currently Planning to Compete in Riyadh\”

Patrick Reed is also on the starting list for the next DP World Tour event, the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship. Despite the uncertainty, Reed expects to renew his contract: \”I haven’t spoken with the team at home or anything yet,\” he said. \”But right now, I plan to compete in Riyadh and would be surprised if we don’t.\”
