Scottie Scheffler Claims His 20th PGA Tour Win at The American Express

Scottie Scheffler wins his 20th PGA Tour event before turning 30.

Scottie Scheffler starts 2026 as usual: with a victory. He won The American Express on the PGA Tour by four strokes ahead of Jason Day, Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty, and Andrew Putnam, and became the second fastest player to reach 20 wins on the PGA Tour. Scheffler shot a 66 to take the lead while his competitors faltered.

PGA Tour: Scottie Scheffler Dominates The American Express

He scored a birdie on half of the holes in the final round and could have won by an even bigger margin if he hadn’t hit his ball into the water on the island green at the 17th hole, resulting in a double bogey. Despite that, no one could match his 66. Si Woo Kim, the third-round leader, could not keep pace and fell back with a 72 on Sunday. Also, 18-year-old Blades Brown, who had played the Korn Ferry Tour final in the Bahamas just days earlier and was tied with Scheffler after three rounds, slipped to T18 after a 74 in the final round.

Scheffler starts the new year as dominantly as ever, marking his 16th consecutive top-ten finish. However, he doesn’t take victories for granted: “There’s a reason we have to finish the tournament. You don’t get the trophy at the 16th hole. You have to finish the tournament. Today, I played in the last group against two players who are really, really talented. Si Woo has so much talent. He’s so good at golf. I met Blades for the first time, but any 18-year-old who makes the final flight of a PGA Tour event is doing something right. It’s a course where you have to go out and make birdies. There were many challenges today, but I’m proud of how we played and put together a nice round.”
