Scottie Scheffler wins his 20th PGA Tour event before turning 30.
Scottie Scheffler starts 2026 as expected: with a victory. He won The American Express on the PGA Tour by four strokes over Jason Day, Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty, and Andrew Putnam, becoming the second fastest player to reach 20 PGA Tour wins. Scheffler led the tournament with a final round 66 as his competitors faltered.
PGA Tour: Scottie Scheffler Dominates The American Express
Scheffler birdied half the holes in the final round and could have won by an even larger margin if not for a double bogey at the island green on the 17th hole. No competitor could match his 66. Si Woo Kim, who led after three rounds, fell back with a 72 on Sunday. Eighteen-year-old Blades Brown, who played in the Korn Ferry Tour final on the Bahamas just days before and was tied with Scheffler after three rounds, dropped to T18 with a final round 74.
Scheffler begins the new year as dominant as ever, not taking victories for granted despite this being his 16th consecutive top-ten finish. “There’s a reason we have to finish the tournament. You don’t get the trophy on the 16th hole. You have to finish the tournament. Playing in the last group today against two very, very talented players was challenging. Si Woo is incredibly talented at golf. I saw Blades for the first time, but any 18-year-old making the final flight of a PGA Tour event is doing something right. It’s a course where you have to go out and make birdies. There were many challenges today, but I’m proud of how we played and had a nice round,” Scheffler said.
