Patrick Reed wins Hero Dubai Desert Classic on DP World Tour

Patrick Reed wins in Dubai, Andy Sullivan finishes second. DACH players like Schneider, von Dellingshausen, Girrbach and Schott place mid-field.

American Patrick Reed secured the title at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic of the DP World Tour at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, the jewel of the Persian Gulf in the United Arab Emirates. Although Reed couldn’t fully replicate his earlier days’ success on the final day, an even-par round was enough for the professional from San Antonio, Texas, to clinch victory.

Mixed final round enough for the win

Reed was not flawless on the front nine, recording at least one bogey. On the back nine, he managed to make up for an earlier mistake at the 10th hole, but wasted two attempts on the green at the 11th hole. He missed par by four strokes there and recorded another bogey, which he balanced at the 13th hole. With a total of 14 strokes under par, Reed secured the title comfortably ahead of Frenchman Julien Guerrier, Spaniard David Puig, and Englishman Andy Sullivan. The win catapulted Reed from 107th to 2nd place in the Race to Dubai.

DP World Tour: Sullivan fights to second place

Andy Sullivan proved himself in the final meters of the last round, securing sole second place. The Englishman started the front nine disastrously with four bogeys and just one birdie. However, on the back nine, Sullivan recovered some strokes and thanks to four birdies, finished with a 71 round. He birdied the 18th hole as well, securing second place in the final moments. Despite finishing ten strokes under par, he trailed tournament winner Reed by a wide margin but was pressured until the end by third-placers David Puig and Julien Guerrier.
