Last Friday it was officially confirmed: Brooks Koepka makes the final entry list for the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open, ranked 246th in the world, positioned between Jake Knapp and Matt Kuchar. Despite his low ranking, Koepka is eligible thanks to his third PGA Championship win three years ago and the Returning Member Program of the PGA Tour, which has welcomed the five-time major champion back and even done promotions with him. Fans’ interest in the 35-year-old’s first PGA Tour appearance since the 2022 Valspar Championship is expected to be high.

With the inscription, Koepka’s comeback within the golf establishment is official. The Florida native travels today to Torrey Pines and is notably nervous and eager for the week of truth ahead. \”There’s probably a mix of ‘We’re glad you’re back, welcome home,’ and ‘You shouldn’t be here.’ I understand both perspectives. Maybe I should’ve taken a year off, and I’m very grateful the tour gave me this chance.\”

Wyndham Clark, who is also in the field, commented, \”If anyone is upset, I have to rebuild those relationships.\” Koepka plans to proactively reach out and have private conversations away from media scrutiny. \”There’s a lot more going on at Torrey Pines than just golf. I’m excited but will be relieved when this first week is over—including dealing with players, media, and some tough conversations. I look forward to having those talks.\”
\”Brooks just has to be the same person he was when he left. Nobody should expect him to change to please others. I don’t think Brooks has to play pro-ams on Monday or shake every hand on the range apologizing. He’s just coming back to play
