Patrick Reed wins in Dubai, with Andy Sullivan finishing second. DACH players Schneider, von Dellingshausen, Girrbach, and Schott land mid-field.
American Patrick Reed secured the title at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, known as the Pearl of the Persian Gulf in the United Arab Emirates. On the final day, Reed couldn’t quite replicate his earlier successes, but an even-par round was enough for the pro from San Antonio, Texas, to clinch victory.
Mixed Final Day Performance Suffices for Victory
Reed was not flawless on the front nine, recording a bogey. On the back nine, he made up for the earlier mistake at the 10th hole but missed two attempts to hole out on the 11th, resulting in another bogey after missing par by four strokes. He balanced this with a birdie at the 13th. Finishing with 14 under par, Reed claimed the title comfortably ahead of Frenchman Julien Guerrier, Spaniard David Puig, and England’s Andy Sullivan. This win propelled Reed from 107th to 2nd in the Race to Dubai standings.
DP World Tour: Sullivan Fights to Second Place
Andy Sullivan showed resilience on the final holes to secure an outright second place. Despite starting the front nine with four bogeys and only one birdie, he recovered on the back nine with four birdies and a 71-round. A birdie on the 18th sealed his second place at ten under par, although he remained pressured by third-place finishers David Puig and Julien Guerrier. Puig and Guerrier both finished nine under par, with Guerrier climbing seven spots thanks to a strong 69 in the final round.
DACH Players Finish Mid-Field
The four DACH players who made the cut landed in the midfield or lower midfield. Marcel Schneider ended the final day with a 74, dropping 14 spots to a tie for 33rd, a position shared with DP World Tour favorite Rory McIlroy, who shot a 73 and lost six places. Nicolai von Dellingshausen finished the tournament two strokes under par, also tied at 33rd. Freddy Schott and Swiss Joel Girrbach placed tied 49th with one over par, each posting a 74 with a mix of bogeys and birdies. Both improved slightly in the Race to Dubai rankings, with Schott currently ranked 103rd early in the season.
