PGA Tour: DACH Players Miss Cut as Si Woo Kim Leads at The American Express

While Schmid, Jäger and Straka miss the weekend at the PGA Tour, Si Woo Kim takes the lead with 22 under par.

On the third day of The American Express on the PGA Tour, held across three courses at PGA West in La Quinta, Southern California, it became clear who would make the cut. Since the tournament is played on three different courses, the cut at The American Express happens after three rounds. The two German players Matti Schmid and Stephan Jäger missed the cut on Saturday and will not play in the final round on Sunday.

PGA Tour: Jäger and Schmid Miss Cut

Matti Schmid started on the La Quinta Country Club course and suffered two double bogeys on holes 2 and 3. He slightly improved with a bogey on hole 4 and found some rhythm with a birdie on hole 5 on the front nine. The rest of the front nine was bogey-free, but he had two more bogeys on the back nine. Even a birdie on hole 11 couldn’t lift him, and he finished the day with a 77 round. He dropped far down the leaderboard and with a total of three under par could not stay in the tournament.

Similar was the fate of Munich’s Stephan Jäger. Jäger started the third round on the Nicklaus Tournament Course and posted a solid 70 with five birdies, one bogey and one double bogey. Despite a strong 66 round the day before, his total of nine under par wasn’t enough to make the cut, which was set at eleven under par.

Sepp Straka Also Falls Short for the Weekend

Austrian and 2025 Ryder Cup winner Sepp Straka also struggled to find his game. His rounds on Thursday (72) and Friday (74) were average. He improved on day three with a 68 round (four under par) but finished the tournament at two under par overall—well short of the cut line.

Kim and Brown Stay Close to the Lead

Although Si Woo Kim slightly worsened his personal tournament average with a 66 on day three, he secured the lead at 22 under par. Hot on his heels at 21 under are Blades Brown and World Number One Scottie Scheffler, who had shared first place on Friday. Both Americans posted their weakest rounds with a 68 on Saturday. Chasers Eric Cole and Wyndham Clark follow closely with rounds of 66 and 20
