Champions Tour: Stewart Cink Wins in Hawaii, Bernhard Langer in Top 10

Bernhard Langer reaches Top 10, Alex Cejka impresses with a late surge as Stewart Cink claims victory in Hawaii.

At the Mitsubishi Electric Championship on the Champions Tour at the Hualalai Golf Course in Kaʻūpūlehu on the Hawaiian volcanic island of Hawaii, American Stewart Cink secured the trophy. The two German players, Bernhard Langer and Alex Cejka, moved close to the top 10 on the leaderboard after three rounds.

Champions Tour: Stewart Cink Dominates in Hawaii

Stewart Cink started strong on Thursday with a 66, placing himself early in the front of the leaderboard. Despite a bogey on hole 16 in his second round, he delivered an impressive 63 with ten birdies on Friday. A final round 64 brought his total to 23-under-par, securing the top spot on the leaderboard.

Following him on the leaderboard was Argentine Ángel Cabrera, who highlighted the final round with an eagle but shot a 66 overall, including five birdies and one bogey. Cabrera was particularly dangerous on the second day, moving up to third place with a flawless front nine featuring five birdies and an eagle. On the back nine, he added five birdies but had two bogeys on holes 11 and 17. Despite finishing three strokes behind leader Cink, Cabrera secured second place with a two-stroke lead over South African Retief Goosen.

Bernhard Langer Steadily Moves into Top 10

Bernhard Langer steadily climbed into the top 10 during the tournament in Hawaii. He started with a 70 on Thursday, in the middle of the pack. On the second day, Langer made seven birdies and an eagle, with just one bogey on hole 15, shooting a solid 64 (eight under par) and looking confident for the final round. On the third day, a 68 helped him gain two more positions, finishing ninth overall at 14-under-par.

German pro golfer of Czech origin, Alex Cejka, also moved close to the top 10. After a 68 on Thursday and a 70 on Friday, he was in 24th place before the final day. On Saturday, the 55-year-old from Mariánské Lázně (today Czech Republic) surged twelve spots with a 66, finishing the tournament at 12-under-par in 12th place.
