Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager for a comeback, Charley Hull soon launching on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the competing circuit but needs more family time. This was mutually agreed upon, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s statement. Koepka is a competitor who thrives in high-level competition, something he found only limited in LIV. In 2022, he joined LIV mainly for financial security as injuries cast doubt on his career continuation. Hence, skipping the last contracted season is not surprising, though questions remain about buyout terms or repayment of guaranteed money. He also remains owner of the LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation abounds about which fairways Koepka will appear on next: DP World Tour, where he could play immediately possibly with a fine, or PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension from his last LIV event—though life bans previously imposed by former commissioner Jay Monahan have been substantially softened. Why hold grudges if every LIV returnee, especially a prominent one, ultimately benefits the more established Tour? This key question seems partially answered: ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reinstate his PGA Tour membership, which expired after 2022.
